Brilliant poet, the youngest ever World Poetry Slam Champ, and all round diamond, Harry Baker, is coming home!
On January 24th, Harry is bringing his show 'Unashamed' to Komedia, in his hometown of Bath... and I had a lovely chat with him on my Big Night In radio show on Friday.
The thing I absolutely love about Harry is one minute he'll have you giggling about a diss track he wrote when Chris Evans couldn't grasp why Harry would run the London marathon dressed as a falafel (complete with falafel eating spoon!). The next, he'll be talking openly about mental health, about feeling vulnerable, and about why silliness can make all the difference to how we view the world - and ourselves.
Check out our chat and discover how Harry started penning poetry, what it was like winning the World Poetry Slam Championship, more about falafel/London marathon/Chris Evans-gate, and about what we can expect from his Unashamed show. It's all right here...
You can also hear Harry's incredible poem, Paper People, here...
Our conversation originally aired on BBC Radio Somerset on Friday January 6th, and you can also hear it on BBC Sounds here, until around 2nd February. Just head 15 minutes into the show to get started.
And there's more!
If you're a regular listener to my Big Night In, you'll know that just after 9.30pm, we play a little game called Fact or Fiction. One of my guests shares three 'facts' about themselves and your challenge (should you choose to accept it), is to guess which one the lie is! Here's Harry's cracking Fact or Fiction...
Did you get the answer right? ;)
It was a genuine pleasure chatting with Harry and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Harry Baker is Unashamed comes to Komedia Bath on Tuesday 24th January. Tickets are on sale here.
