Lucky it's our local

Here's a little shout out for The Red Lion Inn at Babcary.

Babcary is a gorgeous, unspoiled Somerset village close to Somerton & Castle Cary. Well I say close. It's about about 5 or 6 miles either way, which is my new definition of close!

At the heart of it is The Red Lion Inn - a beautiful grade II listed thatched pub & soon we'll be able to call it our local. Well I say local. A 2 mile walk is my new definition of local :)

Anyway, the point is if you're in the area it's well worth a visit. If you're not, then it's well worth planning one as it's also got 6 boutique guest rooms - perfect for exploring the local area. The rooms are stylish & homely & I love the fact that they showcase the art of Jackie Rennie who's a friend of the pub (You can find her work here).

Now about the food. If it's a tasty pub classic you're after I'd say go for the fish & chips & as Graeme's on a quest to eat as many good burgers as Somerset has to offer, he'd say the Red Lion's is definitely up there. We've been a few times now whilst checking out the place that's soon to become home & the welcome's always warm - a real must for a lovely country pub.

And now for the summing up a place in 3 words bit (No. I don't know why I do it either). For the Red Lion it's just got to be 'lucky it's local'.
